Company values
Openness. We are smart and creative, daring to think differently, find solutions to problems and continuously evolve. We also dare to acknowledge our mistakes and take responsibility for our actions.
Humanity. We care about ourselves and others, valuing both colleagues and the people we encounter.
Wisdom. We act today for a better future and security. We know our role and responsibility, and we find new and smart solutions.
Vision
World's best policeforce.
The best police in the world: In our vision, we mean the best in the world in the same way as a parent's desire to be the best mother or father in the world for their children. It's not a competition with others, it's a mindset - a promise to be the best version of yourself. When it comes to the best police in the world, we don't think so much about comparison with other countries, but on the contrary, about the Estonian people we serve. It is our promise to be the best every day for their well-being.
Mission
Together we create security
Statistics
Nearly 5,000 people work daily at the PPA to ensure safety in Estonia. In addition to the PPA team, nearly 1,500 volunteers support us, dedicating their free time and energy as auxiliary police officers and volunteer sea rescuers.
The PPA's tasks, rights, and responsibilities are outlined in the Police and Border Guard Act and the agency's charter. Broadly speaking, our main tasks are related to maintaining public order, investigating and preventing crimes, border surveillance, sea rescue, determining the grounds and status of individuals staying in Estonia, and issuing identity documents.
Behind these titles lie hundreds of different roles, such as community police officer, investigator, translator, surface rescuer, armorer, pilot, and cyber constable.
Every day, patrols respond to approximately 400 incidents.
Each year, we investigate 26,000 crimes and handle 130,000 administrative offenses.
We issue half a million identity documents every year.
At any given moment, we are responsible for the 338-kilometer-long eastern border, which is also the external border of the European Union.
Regardless of the job line, our team is united by one goal – we are here to help. We work to ensure that everyone feels safe in Estonia; can study and fulfill themselves with peace of mind; that Estonia remains a secure environment for economic and cultural development, and that the blue-black-white flag continues to fly at Pikk Hermann tower, on police uniforms and in all of our hearts.
Why should students come to your company for an internship or a job?
For the benefit of people – with us, you help others, create peace of mind, and ensure safety. You will gain invaluable experience, special stories, and a wealth of skills.
With a united team – people are the best reason to work in the police.
Every day with excitement – you’ll find yourself in the middle of extraordinary tasks time and again and get to collaborate with experts in your field.
In the police, you have the opportunity to do nearly a hundred different jobs on land, sea, air, and in cyberspace. You can start as a patrol officer, investigator, helicopter pilot, or border guard. You can pursue a career as a police officer while working, and your monthly income will remain unchanged. We offer the opportunity to enhance your skills through specialized training and courses. With us, you can grow in many areas and make a real impact, even if you're not a police officer.
*We care about a healthy lifestyle – both physical and mental health are important. You can take 5 paid health days each year to boost your well-being. Mental health support is part of the support system available to you. In the police, you can engage in various sports and have access to extensive sports facilities (e.g., gyms, team training, running training). By agreement, you can dedicate 2 hours per week of working time to exercise. You’ll also receive sick leave benefits starting from the second day. If you work with screens, we will cover up to 100 euros of your glasses costs.
With modern work arrangements – we take your needs and preferences into account when creating your work schedule. If the job allows, you can work from home in addition to the office, by agreement. To refresh your mind, you’ll have 35 days of vacation, or up to 45 days as a police officer. You can also get an additional leave day for family events. You are part of an open and inclusive work culture, and you have the opportunity to work anywhere in Estonia and continue as part of our team even if you move to another region.
